    Contemporary Art as Dialogue.

    INTRODUCTION:

    Emphaisis on Transmission:

    THINGS DISCUSSED
The HAG group discussed an emphasis on exhibitions but didn’t specify why they chose the site specific areas.
Artist as curator – DEBATE – something interesting to discuss later?
Why was the group called HOST since they never had a warmth to their artists. Very institutional way of working. Putting things on with no particularities.
Is being Particular a thing we need to be as artist curators? Should as Artist curators, should we appericate the particularities more? embrace them, or ignore them as they are an unnecessarily influence on the social context of how a work is to be displayed?
Some discussion was spared on the fact that as an Artist Curator we should have EXTRA CONSIDERATION. An act of trust is put into us, and we know the hardmanship of creating work – yet the HOST group had a lack of concern.

This led on to the idea of WHETHER THE ARTIST IS NO LONGER A MORAL STANDING CITIZEN. aRT Has always been seen as something that has an essences of truth- help us see through the mist of society and all that. but has society constraints changed this? As artists we don’t tell the truth, of why we do things, what inspired us and how we got to be where we are.
We are no longer open to suggestions, or discussions. – Paul Morrisey key back-up artist., We walk around with a swagger of a gangster rapper., a self importance and an bad aura of smug arrogance where we believe that we are too good to answer questions of general public and we don’t really give a fuck about how we are affecting the artworld. Greatness in art is no longer a thing. Great art can never be made with this arrogance, and everyone wants their 5 minutes of fame. a shift in the defination of valuable.
Commerialism a bad thing for an artist?
No, then why do they deny it when clearily it is?
ARTISTIC PRACTICE NEEDS TO BE HONEST – to survive@?>

Annoyance of the artworld when people talk about artists having to be “swamped with theory“. We have never been swamped with theory. asethetics and conceptualism go together, there is no seperation. noone is ever disregarding asethetics. can we really get away from Asethetics ae visual artists creatures?

The idea of choosing a site specific unconventional space because they were interested in it was somewhat bullshit – they never went onto say how they were interested in the space. language needs to be changed to, ” they just liked that space.”
